It must be Monday...
...because I'm not at work right now. (late note. I wrote this earlier but forgot to post it. Oops)
Actually, I missed 4 days of work this week fighting the flu. I went in on Friday but really didn't feel myself. Honestly, I wanted to go in Sunday but my boss told me not to come in because he was afraid I was infectious. Sadly, I will be short of dough for the rest of the holiday season. I'm not too bummed since I've already done most of my shopping, but I still have a few things to get. Anyone wanna go to Target or something to browse?
With going places in mind, I'm trying to map out my December. There's a handful of things I want to do, starting with hanging out with my good friend Alyssa who will be back from college. I also want to take a trip down to Cincy to spend time with Liz and baby Jenny. I'm hoping to hang out with Darcy, Greg, Reeser, Luis, Cat, Abe, and anyone else who is interested. 2010 will be the year I truly re-ignite my social life.
Of course, that all will start this Saturday when I hang out with ol Gordon Hartz. We're going to the Jackets White Out night on Saturday night. As for Thanksgiving, we're just going to have a little family thing with the 5 of us. Grandma doesn't seem to be doing anything so we'll just be here.
Uhhm... oh yeah. I cut my hair. I'll have pictures later.
How is everyone else?
(btw, the remastered Nothing sucks compared to the original, Meshuggah-heads).

And so, the championship matches are set.
It's nice when things end up the right way, eh?
Even though the Big 10, Pac 10 and Big East don't have championship games, all of their champions will/have been decided in late season matchups this year. If Pitt can beat West Virginia next Friday, they will be set up for a showdown with Cincinnati the following Saturday to determine the Big East. The winner will most likely go on to the Orange Bowl. Ohio State defeated Iowa last week for their spot in the Rose Bowl, and with Stanford and Arizona (and most importantly USC) out of the way, Oregon and Oregon State will meet in two weeks to decide who will play against the Buckeyes on January 1st. This game will be on a Thursday after having next Saturday off, so both teams will be fresh and ready for a huge game. Imagine that; Thursday and Friday deciding concerence champs!
Oh yeah, and there's still the ACC, SEC and Big 12. Over in the ACC, we have not Virginia Tech and not Miami, but Georgia Tech squaring off against Clemson in two weeks to determine who will get their BCS automatic bid. The SEC contenders will face off in the biggest of the three Saturday matchups, with #1 Florida going up against #2 Alabama. Winner goes to the Big One, loser gets a lesser BCS bowl. Nebraska and Texas will face off in the Big 12 big daddy, and if Texas wins it is all but certain that they will go on to play the winner of the SEC championship.
Of course, there will also be Central Michigan vs the winner of the Temple/OU game in the MAC (WTF ARE TEMPLE AND OU DOING ON THE DOORSTEP OF A MAC CHAMPIONSHIP?!). TCU clinched the ever-important Mountain West today, while the Troy Trojans took the not-so-important Sun Belt (again). Boise State faces off against Nevada next week to determine the winner of the WAC, while Eastern Carolina will play either Houston (if they win) or SMU (if Houston loses) in the Conference USA title match. Am I missing anyone? Oh yeah, Navy is in, and more than likely Notre Dame is out.
That's all 11 conferences plus the indies. Next week still might be interesting if Auburn gives Bama any trouble. I don't see Texas A+M stirring up much against Texas. Florida should cruise against Florida State, as well. BUT, in rivalry games, anything goes.
I still can't believe that all time awful Temple might be going to the MAC championship. Granted, they would have very little change against Dan LeFevour and Central Michigan, but that's still easily the biggest story in college football this year. That, along with the demise of USC and Oklahoma (along with Sam Bradford) have made this a very interesting year in college football. We still have to determine the Heisman winner (who will hopefully be either Mark Ingram or C.J. Spiller) and what is going to happen with TCU and possibly Cincinnati's undefeated seasons. Cincy still has some work, but TCU is cruising right through.
Of course, after all this is finished, I'll have my ever-entertaining bowl predictions up. Let's see if Annie Abrams beats me this year!!
Goodnight all!

:-)
There isn't much that I love more than a win over Michigan.
Then again, a outright (and 5th straight) Big 10 championship is nice.
Oh yeah, and that Rose Bowl birth, gotta love that.
It's a nice year for Ohio State sports. If anyone is calling for Coach's head, they ought to STFU. We're beating Michigan, we're winning the Big 10, we're doing our thing. You say our conference sucks? Find me one conference that doesn't this year. Big 12? Down. SEC? Down. ACC, Big East; you name it, they're down. So thank you once again, Coach Tressel. I can't wait to play Oregon (or Oregon State... or heaven forbid Arizona) on January 1st in Pasadena.
That is all.
Go Bucks!

R.I.P Stefanie Spielman
Wow.
This one snuck right up on me. I had no idea it had gotten this bad. I remember back when she first got the cancer in '98 it was a huge deal when her husband (and former OSU and NFL great) Chris Spielman shaved his awesome hair and mustache to support her. He also retired for a year to stay at home and take care of her, which is about the strongest and toughest thing a man can do. She beat it the first time and the Stefanie Spielman Breast Cancer Fund was born. A year or so later it came back, and then a few years later it came back again, but each time Stefanie and Chris were determined and beat the cancer. Before the whole Komen fund pink ribbon thing was a big deal, there was the Stefanie fund. I'll always remember the little footballs at Kroger. And I'll definitely always remember how the Spielman's used their fame to spread the word about Breast Cancer Awareness
Stefanie will always be remembered for her positivity throughout the bout which spanned over 12 years and with 5 seperate occurances. She was a great woman and her husband is a great man as well. My heart absolutely goes out to Chris and the kids. All of Buckeye Nation feels for you, man.

Idiot Driver of the Week Nominees (updated)
Yes, it's that time again folks. Time for the idiot driver of the week.
Coming from Ohio, I'm surrounded by idiot drivers. None more idiotic than the woman on Monday who tried to pass me in the turn lane that I was about to get into. News flash - she was driving into oncoming traffic to get into the turn lane before it was even a lane! And she was foolish enough to honk at me as I got into the lane, as if it were my fault that she was in the wrong lane. Thanks lady! Next time I'm on a 2 lane street, i'll definitely check my blinds before getting into the new 3rd lane. Mhm.
2nd idiot driver comes from today. There was an accident on Broad Street that closed off a lane so everyone had to get into the right lane to get through. I noticed this about 200ft before I got to the accident so I turned on my blinker and slowed down. As I slowed down, several cars passed me in the turn lane on the left before realizing that they had to get over 2 lanes again. Even then, these people were jumping in front of the cars with very little space on the right side. I was patient enough to wait for someone to let me go, but the idiot driver was the woman in the pink Cadillac who was the last to try to pass me, and when she realized she was about to drive into an accident, attempted to swerve back into my lane where I was sitting waiting to turn. RIGHT. Fortunately one of the cars on the right had given me enough room to start getting over. I pounded the horn and she realized her mistake. I'm not sure how she didn't realize it since she had only been in that lane for 15 seconds. Ah well.
3rd idiot comes from Sunday. The guy in the white Lexus who instead of pulling all the way into his parking spot, left his car half way out in the parking lot. He was parked in the first spot so nobody could pull in or out if they had a car any bigger than mine. Well done, bonehead. Next time lay off the booze when you're parking.
That's what I've got. I'm leaning towards #1 right now. Anyone else have any nominations for this week?
:EDIT: Not two hours after I post this and we have #4! I was on my way home from the doctors and I'm on the freeway doing my thing in the far right lane, since the next exit was mine. I pass an entrance onto the freeway and out of nowhere this guy comes speeding up behind me and along side me on the merge divider. I'd never been so scared driving when I heard the little tire buzz thing. I look over and he was close enough that our mirrors could have touched. Instead of just slowing down and merging in behind me, he sped around me, cut in front and slammed on his brakes. Real nice fella. But whatever.
